About the EO

The Erasmus Orchestra (EO) is the first orchestra composed of Erasmus students from European Conservatoires and Music Institutes.

Founded in 2017 by the Erasmus+ Italian National Agency INDIRE, the Erasmus Orchestra was established in 2017, to celebrate the 30th anniversary of the Erasmus+ Programme. This unique initiative brings together talented students from European Conservatories and Music Institutes who are either currently participating in or have completed an Erasmus+ mobility experience.

The activities of the Erasmus Orchestra have obtained great success with audiences and garnered significant interest from media and institutions.

Supported since 2023 by the Association Européenne des Conservatoires, Académies de Musique et Musikhochschulen (AEC), the Orchestra has further solidified its role as a flagship cultural initiative of the Erasmus+ Programme.

EO objectives

Music is a universal language, capable of uniting, creating harmony, and building bridges between cultures. The Erasmus Orchestra embodies these principles, serving as a tangible symbol of European values and the spirit of Unity

It represents the essence of the ‘Erasmus Generation’—open, dynamic, multicultural, and supportive—using music as a powerful metaphor for integration, collaboration, and the development of skills beyond linguistic, geographical, and cultural barriers. Through its melodies, the Orchestra celebrates diversity and reinforces the sense of belonging to a shared Europe.

In this context, young musicians become ambassadors of European citizenship, spreading the values of democracy, dialogue, and peace among nations.

The EO also aims to promote the numerous training and mobility opportunities offered by Erasmus+ in the sector of Higher Education for Art, Music and Dance.

This initiative also aims to enhance the talents and excellence of European Conservatoires and Music Institutes, while fostering collaborations and partnerships that offer internationalization opportunities between teh involved organizations and provide high-level training and professional experiences for young musicians.
